Robin Grindley is known for these bold, colourful interpretations of various subject matters, mainly landscapes and florals arrangements. His work is pretty dreamy, and I think very effective at providing the viewer a colourful escape. Around the Block would get many of his smaller works in, and they were continually popular.
I found a great quote from Mr. Grindley on Saatchiart’s website:
“I've always wanted to say ... "I'm a saucy Cancer who enjoys walks on the beach" ... but the fact is I'm a pretty happy guy, living in a small community close to my partner's family, surrounded by great friends. I started painting late in life, prompted by great support from friends, and consider myself very fortunate to be able to call myself a painter.
Grindley is self taught, and came to Canada from Scotland as a child. His art is widely available on the secondary market, and through more traditional galleries. He currently lives in St. Thomas, the home of his partner, Neil.
Signed and dated on the back. Centre (might be original) hanging fixture.
